How do I choose the right internet connection? In the market there are so many internet service providers, so many plans, so many products, which one do I choose? Which one is right for me? Is this what's going on your mind? Then read on First you need to sit back and check your requirements. Questions you need to ask your self Do I require to leave my internet "On" all the time i.e. 24 hours or do turn it "On" when ever I require it? Do I require fixed bandwidth or variable would do? Do I require my internet when I'm mobile i.e. moving from one place to the other or do I require it at a fixed location? Do I require a fixed data plan or an unlimited plan? Now since you have answered your questions here is what you will need If you require your internet to be "On" all the time you will need a "unlimited" plan as your data usage will be high. You can also consider the "unlimited" plan if you do a lot of downloads like music, movies, software, games etc. If your requirement is a fixed bandwidth, e.g. playing online games etc you will require an ADSL connection, cable connection. NOTE: Online Games can also be played on USB modem or wireless USB however USB modems fluctuate depending on the network. If the network is strong in that area and fewer people logged in the bandwidth remains stable. If you require internet on the go i.e. when you are on the move. USB modem or you 3g USB modem is what you need as they are wireless and latch on to network just like your mobile phone. ADSL broadband and USB modem serve two different purposes there are advantages and disadvantages with both type of internet connections. A few points to be noted for both. ADSL BroadbandStatic IP Fixed Location Fixed Bandwidth USB / Ethernet (modem dependent connector) USB Modem (wireless broadband)Dynamic IP (connects to the range of IP of service provider) Internet on the go (mobile) Bandwidth location specific.(depends on the congestion on the network at your location) USB / Express / PCMCIA (wireless modems) range available. Now since you have information of both type of modems i.e. cable(ADSL) broadband and wireless (USB) broadband and you now know what type of broadband you need, its time to question your local service providers for the right plan for the right price. If you have a couple of your friends who are already using the internet service, talk to them about the service their service provider provides them and if they are happy with it. Note: Never choose a rate plan because your friend is using it. make sure the plan you choose meets your own needs. Happy Surfing! |
