Error 680 there was no Dial tone

To resolve this error check if the correct modem is selected in the dialup connection setup by the software. (Most people have this question “am I using a dialup?” well the answer to this is the way the USB modems, 3g modems or your wireless USB modems connect to the internet through a dialup. Dialup dose not mean a 56k modem. Dialup is just a type of connection that can be setup on a computer to connect to the internet the speed can be anything from 40kbps or even higher than 7.2Mbps(7372kbps), there is no limit as it depends on the wireless network or your service provider and your USB modem, 3g USB modem or your wireless USB modem you are using. Click “start” and go to “control panel”, in control panel open “network connection” in win XP or “network and sharing center” in win Vista. You will find a dialup for the modem you use. In most cases the dialup has the name of your service provider. Right click on the dialup and click properties. You will find a list of modems. It could be that the wrong modem has a tick in it. Make sure that the correct modem is selected and click ok. You are now ready to connect to the internet using your USB internet Key or modem.

There is yet another way to get to your dialup. Click “start” and go to “connect to” you will see a list of connections on your computer. Click on the correct dialup (in most cases the name of the dialup has the name of your service provider) and click properties. You will find a list of modems. It could be that the wrong modem has a tick in it. Make sure that the correct modem is selected and click ok. You are now ready to connect to the internet using your USB modem.
