Could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server.

This is an error that you would get using your USB modem or your wireless USB modems on a Mac operating system when it is not able to negotiate a connection. It occurs when the access point in the settings is incorrect or not defined (refer to your service provider for the access point if not known). The way you would enter the access point would depend on the Mac operating system you are using (click on the apple icon and select About This Mac to find out your Mac OS version). Most of the USB modems are only compatible with Mac OS 10.3.9 or later (check system requirement for your USB modems or your wireless USB). In a Mac 10.3.9 to 10.4 you need to enter or check the access point in the connection software which was installed by you during installation of your USB modem (you will find it in Applications). Make sure that the access point is the same as your service provider suggested. On a Mac OS 10.5 and above there is software that is installed for you to connect to the internet. Make sure that the access point in the software is correct also open Network (Apple icon / System Preferences / Network) make sure that the name of your USB modem is showing on the left of the network screen. Highlight it with your mouse / touchpad and then click Advance. Under the modem tab you will find an option of “Vendor”. Select vendor as “generic”, go to “Model” and select “3g/GPRS” an APN Box will appear. In the box type the access point of your service provider. Click ok and you will go back to the earlier page. Set Configuration as default and enter the telephone number as *99#. Don’t enter any username or password unless specified by your service provider and click apply. You are ready to connect to the internet using your wireless 3g.
